DRY RIVERS IN GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE, LITHUANIA, EU EXPERIENCE

Based on the analysis of the scientific literature, it was found that Rietavas Park has the right natural, geographical and cultural conditions for the creation of a rain garden and the collection of stormwater through green structures. Calculations carried out by smart applications for forecasting the amount of surface runoff show that most of the stormwater runoff is generated in July-November (80-95 mm). It is proposed to protect the cultural heritage site (foundations) by installing a dry river in its vicinity to channel potential rainfall into the pond. The assessment of the granulometric composition of the existing soil has shown (all samples are dominated by sandy soil, more than 50%) that the potential storm water percolation is sufficient and that infiltration into the soil will be ensured (at least 0.5m/day in case of 24 hours of intense rain).

Abstract
