NEW DATA ABOUT SCOLIA MACULATA AND ORYCTES NASICORNIS
For the first time in the city of Bendery, studies of two Red Book species Scolia maculata and Oryctes nasicornis, which are closely connected by trophic chains, were carried out, and a map of their habitats was compiled. The feeding of Oryctes nasicornis has not been studied and, contrary to the literature data that the adult rhinoceros beetle does not feed, the experiment of the authors of this work convincingly proves that Oryctes nasicornis feeds on the sap of rotting wood. In the absence of a large amount of moisture on rotting wood, the adult Oryctes nasicornis dies very quickly.
