A novel orange red emitting Li2Ba3(P2O7)2:VO2+ nanophosphor for high CRI LED applications using wet-chemical synthesis

• Li 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 :VO 2+ nanophosphor has been synthesized by wet-chemical technique. • Average crystalline, grain and particle sizes are evaluated from XRD and SEM. • FTIR and Raman analyses are employed to observe different modes vibrations of phosphate ions . • The site symmetry of VO 2+ ion is distorted octahedral with host lattice confirmed by optical and EPR spectra . • CIE chromaticity coordinates, CRI, CP and CCT parameters are examined and this material may be useful for LEDs and lighting applications. Novel nanophosphor luminous materials Li 2 Ba 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 :VO 2+ were successfully synthesized using wet-chemical. The XRD (Powder X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) with EDAX (Energy Dispersive Analysis of X-ray), FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy) EPR (Electron Paramagnetic Resonance) optical absorption and PL (Photoluminescence) were employed to characterise produced sample in detail. XRD confirmed orthorhombic structure of produced nanophosphor. SEM was used to analysing the morphology of synthesized nanophosphor, doping and sample purity were verified by EDAX. From the FT-IR and Raman, presence of vibrational modes in the produced nanophosphor was identified. The optical absorption spectrum exhibited three bands and using EPR data the nature of bonding and different parameters was evaluated. PL spectrum of obtained nanophosphor depict broad emission peak observed at 619 nm. When the doping amount of VO 2+ is 0.01 % mol, the PL emission reaches high intensity. The CIE colour coordinates (x = 0.421, y = 0.363) as well as colour rendering index (CRI = 90 %) with correlated colour temperature (2929 K) were examined. These findings are strongly suggesting that the prepared orange-red phosphor has remarkable potential applications for solid state lighting devices and commercial LEDs. CIE chromaticity color coordinates (x = 0.421, y = 0.363) are evaluated from emission spectral data exhibits less intensive orange-red region. CCT value is 2929K indicates warm light and high values 90 % of CRI confirms this material is useful in the area of LEDs and lighting technology.
