European Consumer Protection Regarding Recycling Products Made from End-of-Life Tires in the Context of the Circular Economy

Abstract Recycling has become one of the most important topics to saving valuable resources for future generations. Not only the industry, but also governments through legislation, are focusing on producing reusable goods and reusing materials by recycling its components to give them a second, third or in any way a new life. This so-called circular economy is a key component of sustainable development. The aim of this paper is to analyze the conflict between consumer protection and ecological sustainability in order to outline elements of a strategy that will allow both: effective usage of consumer products and sustainable tire recycling.
