Increasing of Specific Energy of the Supercapacitors Based on Cellulose-Derived Nanostructures and Conductive Polymers

Mechanism analysis of the electrostatic double-layer capacitance and electrochemical pseudocapacitance of specific supercapacitors has been performed in this paper. The amount of stored energy is influenced by a set of structural parameters, which characterize the electrode/electrolyte nature, and these parameters have been correlated. Materials based on cellulose-derived nanostructures and conductive polymers were studied. The chemistry of the polymer chains and functional groups has been considered for structural simulation with the HFSS program. The obtained parametrical dependences of the specific energy helped us to decide better material configuration for energetic performance. The ionic conductivity was estimated for different sets of materials. The values for specific energy were obtained up to 24 W h/kg in comparison with the reported values with non-correlated parameters of maximum 21.7 W h/kg, for excitations of about 10 A/g current density. Parameters' correlation impact is significant and can be revealed by the non-invasive simulation method.
