EFFICACY OF THE PERTURBATION ITERATION METHOD IN TESTING THE RESPONSE OF HEPATITIS C VIRUS TREATMENT ON THE DYNAMICS OF UNINFECTED AND INFECTED HEPATOCYTES

This paper aims to solve an optimal control problem using three different numerical approaches applied to a mathematical model of HCV. To evaluate the efficiency of the perturbation iteration method, the results are compared with those obtained using the direct method and an approach integrating fuzzy logic. The findings, derived from MATLAB implementation, align well with experimental data and demonstrate the response of interferon and ribavirin to the dynamics of uninfected and infected hepatocytes in a patient suffering from HCV. The numerical methods used show similar trends; however, the perturbation method has an advantage over the others due to the regularity of the curves it produces. Consequently, it represents a valuable approach for solving the optimal control problem. In particular, it provides the optimal trajectories for uninfected and infected hepatocytes while ensuring their effective performance.
