Amikacin sulphate is a widely used broad-spectrum antibiotic for treating with infections of the eyes, with including corneal ulcers. Poloxamer P407, a mucoadhesive polymer for ophthalmic gel formation, was selected as the polymer that causes rapid gel formation by producing calcium alginate through its contact with the divalent cation found within lachrymal fluid. To help with longer medicine release, hydroxypropyl using methyl cellulose (HPMC) was used as a viscosity enhancer until the appropriate consistency was reached. The resulting formulations underwent evaluations for drug content, clarity, pH measurement, gelling abilities, rheological studies, within vitro drug release, and antibacterial research. When compared to conventional systems, within-situ gel-based systems containing polymers may prove to be a viable method for the administration of ocular medications.

Abstract

Systems that are referred to as with in-situ gels when they are applied as solutions or suspensions they can change from a sol-to-gel state within response to environmental factors like pH the temperature. within relation to with instillation. The aim of These work was to create the evaluate a thermos-responsive within-situ gel for ocular delivery. Amikacin sulphate is a widely used broad-spectrum antibiotic for treating with infections of the eyes, with including corneal ulcers.
