Creatine Kinase (CK) elevation: An unusual presentation of celiac disease
Celiac disease (CD) is an autoimmune disorder triggered by ingestion of gluten-containing products. Elevated Creatine Kinase (CK) etiologies include rhabdomyolysis, myocardial infarction or inflammatory myopathies. Very few reports of the association between CD and myopathies. Herein, we reported a 15-year-old with myalgia and weight loss, elevated CK, diagnosed with CD. • Include CD in the diagnosis of patients with myalgia, elevated CK, and weight loss. • HyperCKemia is not only found in rheumatological disorders. • Strict gluten free diet can alleviate symptoms and resolve inflammation.
