Environmental feasibility study and its role in achieving sustainable development for construction projects: a study of a sample of relevant authorities in Adrar province

This study aims to explore the role of environmental feasibility studies for construction projects in supporting sustainable development. The research first sheds light on the theoretical aspects, presenting the concepts of sustainable development and environmental feasibility studies, along with an overview of construction projects. It then examines the reality of feasibility study application by relevant authorities when assessing construction projects and their impact on supporting sustainable development in the Adrar region. Based on the analysis of 68 questionnaires using SPSS software, the findings reveal a strong positive correlation between the application of environmental feasibility studies for construction projects and sustainable development, with a statistically significant effect estimated at 76%. The study emphasizes the need for training programs for feasibility study practitioners to acquire skills in utilizing various methodologies, particularly quantitative approaches that allow for modeling economic, social, and environmental objectives. Furthermore, it recommends the integration of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies in feasibility study processes to uncover diverse developmental opportunities in construction projects.
