Growth and Production of Desi Magur (Clarius batrachus) under Fresh Water Biofloc System

The present study explored the growth and Production of Desi Magur (Clarius batrachus) under fresh water Biofloc System. To observe the development and yield of Desi Magur under a freshwater Biofloc culture system, experiments were carried out at KVK Fish Farm. The development and production of Desi Magur in a fresh water Biofloc System were examined in two trials, each lasting ten months (2021–2023), at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, IGKV, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. For this reason, each trial used three circular and rectangular cemented tanks, each with a capacity of 10,000 liters. In limited water systems, probiotics were utilized to reduce ammonia and grow beneficial bacterial colonies. With potassium permanganate treatment, 1500 healthy advanced fry of Desi Magur (average weight 1.7 gm) were stocked per tank. Using a normal feeding chart, floating feed with a protein content of 40–45% was fed twice daily. Molasses. Floc volume range was recorded between 17-35 ml/liter water sample, FCO was monthly applied for bacterial growth and maintain microbial load. The average yield was recorded 224.00 Kg/tank after a period of 10 months from stocking, average growth was 165 gm and FCR was also very impressive and recorded 1.5. Both the experiments were conducted during 10/08/2021- 15/05/2023, so the variation of temperature was little high. The C:N ratio of 10:1, the dissolved oxygen of 6.3 ppm, the TDS of 788 ppm, and the average pH of 7.7 were the other significant physicochemical data that were noted. Every week, 50ml of Probocare & Medifish unique was administered per tank to maintain water and floc parameters. Unique Growth was applied as a growth promoter at a rate of 120g/tank every two weeks to ensure proper growth. The experiment's findings imply that the biofloc system in freshwater aquaculture enhances Magur's growth performance in systems with nearly nil water exchange.
