Art at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries in the context of recurring epochs: New sensitivity in the artistic sphere as a challenge. Part 2

The article is the second part of the publication: Хренов Н. А. Искусство рубежа ХХ-ХХI веков в контексте повторяющихся эпох: новая чувствительность в художественной сфере как вызов. Часть I // Pan-Art. 2024. Т. 4. Вып. 3. In this part, the author also attempts to document the historical rises and falls in the emotional life of society, particularly in collective forms, using examples from spectacular art forms, specifically theatre. The author focuses on the following questions: the emancipation of emotions in artistic forms, analyzing the factors contributing to this process and presenting emotions as both a dominant element and as a component subordinate to style. Further, the work examines Romanticism as an early stage in the emancipation of emotional expression and the emergence of emotion as an end in itself. The concluding section of the article is dedicated to the new cultural situation of the 19th century, characterized by an oversaturation of emotions as a Challenge.
