A Study on the Insulation Performance Analysis of Liquid Hydrogen Storage Tank with 66-layer Multi-layer Insulation
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a vacuum composite insulation system for liquefied hydrogen tank application by building a structural unit insulation performance evaluation equipment and conducting experimental research on boil-off gas generation inside the tank. As a cornerstone study for future experimental research on MLI of high vacuum insulation system, the insulation performance is evaluated according to the heat flow rate, effective thermal conductivity, and boil-off rate derived from the experimental results. In particular, in the case of MLI, it is important to secure experimental data reliability of structural unit insulation performance because the material performance of standard materials and laboratory units may differ from that of structural units. Therefore, as a cornerstone study to secure experimental data reliability, this study developed a structural unit testbed in the form of a double tank capable of cryogenic cargo transportation, and obtained and analyzed insulation performance results in a soft vacuum.
