Reply from the authors - “Xenotransplantation and PERV”
Dear Editor, We thank Dr. Denner for their interest in our work and the detailed and informative remarks about the paper.[1,2] We want to thank the Editor, of the Indian Journal of Kidney Diseases, for the opportunity to respond to the issues raised. First, we sincerely regret wrongly referencing a work done by Denner.[2] Reference 15 in the article Xenotransplantation, published in Indian J Kidney Dis 2022;1(1):13-9, was supposed to be attached with the previous sentence in the article, mentioning the selection of porcine endogenous retrovirus C-free animals with low levels of B and A. We want to reiterate that concerns of human transmission and replication and a possible pandemic are the authors’ personal opinions and do not reflect the work done by Denner et al.[2] The wrong placement of references was an oversight error during the manuscript preparation. Financial support and sponsorship Nil. Conflicts of interest There are no conflicts of interest.
