Application of the Mayr Arc Model for Characterizing the Interruption Performance of CO2-Based High Voltage Circuit Breakers
This paper conducts a thorough analysis of the applicability of the Mayr arc model in examining different parameters affecting thermal interruption process in high voltage CO2-based circuit breakers. More specifically, we investigate how the thermal interruption process is affected by various parameters related to the test circuit, including time delay of the transient recovery voltage (TRV), line to ground capacitance, and line impedance. This analysis has been performed for various cooling conditions. Such analysis provides better understanding of the complex interactions between the arc and circuit during the current interruption process.
