A Load Balancing Strategy for Enhancing SEC's Power Distribution System Efficiency

Transmission line losses pose a significant challenge in power system design and operation, contributing to increased costs and reduced efficiency. This paper introduces an operational method for distribution system networks with multiple electrical sources. By targeting a reduction in transmission line losses, the proposed approach aims to enhance overall power system performance, improve reliability, and lower operational expenses. The strategy's effectiveness is demonstrated through a case study on the Dallah Hospital Namar power system in Saudi Arabia. Results indicate a substantial up to 50% decrease in transmission line losses, leading to reduced operational costs for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), mitigated voltage drops, and enhanced system reliability. The proposed methodology holds promise for broader application in power systems with multiple distribution networks.
