Advanced Optimized Active Cell Balancing with Efficient Power Electronics Algorithms for Superior Battery Performance in Electric Vehicle
Effective battery cell balancing is critical for achieving optimal performance and safety in modern energy storage systems. This work investigates active balancing techniques, which leverage power electronic controllers to enhance battery pack performance beyond the capabilities of passive methods. The system integrates DC-DC converters and bidirectional power transfer circuits to facilitate efficient energy management. Real-time voltage and state of charge monitoring allow precise power flow adjustment, while advanced algorithms provide sophisticated decision-making and control. This approach minimises State of charge disparities, maximises usable capacity, and extends battery lifespan. Additionally, active balancing reduces thermal stress and mitigates safety risks, positioning it as a valuable technology for applications such as electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. Active balancing is pivotal in advancing sustainable energy solutions by improving energy efficiency and lowering costs.
