Design of a Multi-Communication System for Remote Monitoring in Fish Farming
Environmental conditions are very important for fish farming industries. Every environmental change can affect fish production. However, using traditional ways to control and manage the environmental conditions will produce a problem as production will be disturbed and difficult to meet the demand. Moreover, industrial-scale fish farming must have many fish ponds in large areas. Moreover, the distance of every fish pond becomes another problem. Thus, technology is needed to overcome those issues and achieve effectiveness. This study implemented Internet of Things (IoT) technology to design a multi-communication with a feature to collect the data with several measurement ranges. This study used a case of water level measurement in the fish pond. The measurement used two monitoring devices in different ranges that utilized Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to communicate with the data collector. Then, the data collector collected the data and sent them together through LoRa communication. Thus, the data will be shown in the monitoring system. The result indicated that the communication type has different performance. LoRa has advantages when it is implemented on two devices long distances away. Bluetooth can be effective for short-distance communication. The proposed system can achieve optimal performance with 100% accuracy. Using signals categorized as very good or good according to the RSSI standard in this scenario is recommended. The experimental results can serve as a reference for implementing the system to monitor water levels in fish pond conditions.
