Large scale hydrogen production technologies – review and case study
High energy prices and climate change have increased interest in hydrogen production, storage, and usage. Hydrogen is an energy vector that promises many opportunities for the electricity, natural gas sectors, transportation, and various other industries. The article highlights the importance and interest in hydrogen production in past years and focuses on the main large-scale methods of producing hydrogen. This article presents a case study with two hydrogen production methods, presenting the financial point of view considering actual prices. In the end, a table summarizes all the methods of hydrogen production highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each one, the overall efficiency, and finally, the cost of hydrogen production was also included.
