A Performance Analysis of Building Integrated PV Systems in Jordanian Residential Buildings
Photovoltaic panels are becoming a popular renewable energy source for homes. However, some houses have limited space for installing the system. Building integrated photovoltaic are promising technologies for such cases. This study suggests a new semi-transparent PV panel design to be installed on a 100 m2façade house to satisfy the power demand throughout the year. Results show that the proposed system can cover 84.8% of the total energy consumption while considering the limited space on the façade. The new PV panel design reduces light energy consumption by 30%. The proposed system is feasible, with a payback period of 4.4 years and a reduction in total carbon emissions by 4.46 tons.
