A 3-DOF Lightweight Passive Vibration Isolation System for Flying Sensors

To mitigate the impact of sensor vibrations on electromagnetic detection, this study employs a passive isolation strategy to enhance detection performance. The self-stabilizing device incorporates a 3-DOF vibration isolator suspended by an autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV), and the vibration isolator does not generate a magnetic field. Initially, data analysis and modeling simulation of the sensor's structure are conducted to confirm its vibration characteristics. The isolation device has been designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of lightweight, nonmagnetic emission, and isolation performance. Subsequently, the isolation device's capability to reduce vibration-induced noise in the sensor is validated. This method successfully reduces the vibration-induced electromagnetic noise (VIEN) frequency from 15.5 to 2.5 Hz in laboratory tests. It significantly attenuates the amplitude at this frequency, resulting in a 39.44 [email protected] reduction in noise level. Remarkably, the weight of the sensor increases by only 6.48%. The proposed technique effectively modifies the mechanical characteristics of the sensor, thereby mitigating VIEN at the source without introducing interference from electromagnetic fields. Finally, field detection experiments are conducted, where, under constant emission current, the detection depth successfully extends from –629 to –890 m.
