A Wideband High-Gain Magnetoelectric Dipole Antenna Array With SISL for 5G Millimeter-Wave Applications
This article presented a wideband, high-gain, and high-efficiency magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna array based on substrate integrated suspended line (SISL) technology. The antenna unit in the proposed design utilizes differential SISL to excite two ME-dipoles, resulting in a relative impedance bandwidth of 30% and a maximum realized gain of 10.75 dBi. The subarray incorporates series center feeding to minimize feeding network losses while optimizing the ME-dipole structure to reduce sidelobe level (SLL). Two miniaturized wideband single port transition to differential feeding (SPDF) structures with 180° phase difference are designed by combining slotline with SISL multilayer structure. The array feeding network is simplified by employing these two SPDF structures, helping to improve realized gain and radiation efficiency for the array. With its wideband capability, compact size, high gain, and high-efficiency characteristics, the proposed antenna is well suited for applications in 5G millimeter-wave (mm-wave) systems.
