ANALYSING THE EFFECT OF TILT ON THE STRESS-STRAIN STATE OF THE TANK WALL

The paper deals with the problem of determining the stress-strain state of a vertical steel cylindrical tank wall in the presence of uniform roll. It is indicated that one of the factors influencing the general stress-strain state of the tank wall, which is a thin shell according to the basic laws of structural mechanics, is the presence or absence of settlements of the bases and foundations of the structural elements of the tank. The roll occupies an intermediate value in the degree of danger between uniform and non-uniform types of settlement. The article uses classical methods of structural mechanics, existing analytical solutions, as well as numerical methods, in particular, the finite element method with implementation in the ANSYS software package. The developed numerical model of the RVSP-20000 tank with application of the finite element method in ANSYS allowed to determine displacements, deformations and stresses in the wall structures of the tank having a roll. The results obtained by the authors show that the roll of the tank, in which there is no detachment of the rim from the annular foundation, practically does not affect the overall stress-strain state of the tank. However, the authors have obtained a valuable dependence for practical application, which allows identifying the presence or absence of areas of the outer contour of the bottom with non-uniform settlement, considered by the authors as a rather dangerous phenomenon.
