Transformation, transmission, transgression
This article provides a collaborative autoethnographic analysis of the practice of fasting in the month of Ramadan. Anthropological research on Islam and the life of Muslims have not sufficiently considered daily practices during fasting. In this article, the authors intend to reflexively analyze their experiences of fasting while trying to continue daily life as academics, parents, and subjects immersed in society. For these purposes, the method used was that of auto-ethnography. As will be seen, this method implies an examination of reflexivity in which the researchers' practices are put under tension to generate a coherent account of the tensions between fasting and the culture in which they unfold.
