The article is dedicated to Ivan Shlendyk, one of the little-known representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Manchuria, a populariser of the idea of Ukrainian state independence and a chronicler of Ukrainian life in East Asia. The purpose of the research is to highlight I. Shlendyk's biography and to study his socio-communication activities, specifically his collaboration with the Ukrainian press published in the 1930s. The research employs biographical, bibliographical, comparative methods, as well as press clipping, classification, and generalization techniques. The scientific novelty of the research. The information about I. Shlendyk's collaboration with the Ukrainian press, which operated during the interwar period in Europe and East Asia, has been clarified and supplemented. Shlendyk, his roles as a combatant, pedagogue, editor and journalist have not yet become the subject of specialized scientific studies. O.; 4) he was served as the editor for various Ukrainian non-periodical and press publications in Harbin; 5) he was published there under his full name and under the cryptonym I. Sh.; 6) the main thematic areas of his publications include: the struggle for Ukrainian state independence, the preservation of the memory of prominent Ukrainian political figures (particularly S. Petliura), and the life of Ukrainians in East Asia, especially in Manchuria.
