Study of Turbofan Engine Components and Performance with Overheating Problems

The mainstream engines in the present world are classified into four types. Among them, the most prevalently used one is the turbofan engine. Compared with other engines, the turbofan engine features high thrust, high propulsive efficiency, low noise, and low fuel consumption. Moreover, its various components play an indispensable role in its operation. Based on the development history of the turbofan engine, this paper conducts an in-depth discussion on the components and working principle of the turbofan engine. Combined with its application in both the civil and military fields, the working performance of the turbofan engine is enhanced by improving common performance parameters, such as fan efficiency, fan flow, combustion chamber efficiency, and the excess air coefficient. This is aimed at enabling the engine to operate with higher efficiency and lower fuel consumption rate, which is a common feature of engines. The common high temperature problems in engines are studied and combined with the literature, it is concluded that new high temperature resistant materials such as ceramic matrix composites or spraying a thin thermal barrier coating on the turbine blades can be used to improve the resistance of engine components to high temperatures and increase the service life of the components.
