PMSG-based wind turbine energy systems for enhancing grid power quality utilizing SAPF integrated with PV systems guided by the artificial hummingbird algorithm
The quality of the electrical power grid in the energy sector is essential for the electrical system. Substandard power quality can result in energy losses, equipment malfunctions, and grid instability. Power quality is influenced by harmonic distortions, voltage fluctuations, and transient disturbances. Numerous strategies have been employed to address this issue, including the utilization of renewable energy sources as a filter. This study discusses the use of wind energy into the grid to enhance grid flexibility and supply more electricity when required. However, this integration faces problems like as voltage swings and harmonics. Consequently, photovoltaic energy has been incorporated to mitigate harmonics and stabilize voltage fluctuations, which is the primary focus of this study. A boost converter has been employed for the solar filter component utilizing the artificial hummingbird algorithm. This method attained a 4% total harmonic distortion, conforming to the IEEE 519-1992 standard.
