The cantilever beams experimental dynamic investigation according to the Euler-Bernoulli theory

The purpose of this study is to experimentally determine the natural frequencies by modal analysis of flexure vibrations of cantilever Euler-Bernoulli beams with different dimensions to verify this classical theory. The influence of the sensor mass and its position on the natural frequencies is subsequently determined. For this purpose, the first three natural frequencies were extracted via experimental dynamic tests and subsequently compared to the analytical study results according to the classical Euler-Bernoulli theory of transverse vibrations. These tests were carried out on steel beams of different lengths and widths, where the beams were fixed at one end and free at the other end with the sensor placed at different positions. A comparison of the experimental values with the analytical calculations shows that the exactness of the analytical calculated natural frequencies is affected by the beam length and width and that it is affected by the sensor mass and its position.
