Evaluation Of Retention Using Light Polymerizing Tray Resin, Heavy Viscosity Addition Silicone and Low Fusing Impression Compound as Border Molding Material: A Clinical Comparative Study
The purpose of this in vivo study is to compare and evaluate retention using light polymerizing tray resin, heavy viscosity addition silicone and low fusing impression compound as border moulding material. MATERIAL AND METHODOLOGY:Eighteen patients with completely edentulous maxillary arch were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Primary impression was made, followed by border moulding using the Low fusing impression compound (GROUP A), Heavy viscosity addition silicone (GROUP B), Light polymerizing tray material (GROUP C).Final impression was made and master casts were poured.Heat cure denture bases were fabricated and the retention values measured using the Dynamometer.Retention force values obtained for all the three groups were analyzed by One way ANOVA and Tukey's multiple posthoc tests. RESULTS:Mean and standard deviation retention force values for Low fusing impression compound is 5.81+-1.10kgf, 5.59+-1.11kgffor Heavy viscosity addition silicone , 5.97+-1.15kgffor Light polymerizing tray material. There is no statistically significant difference between the three groups and their mean retention values for all the three groups is 5.79+-1.11kgf. CONCLUSION:The retention values of the single step border moulding materials were at par with, if not better than those of the conventional border moulding approach. This investigation found that light polymerizing tray material and heavy viscosity Evaluation Of Retention Using Light Polymerizing Tray Resin, Heavy Viscosity Addition Silicone and Low Fusing Impression Compound as Border Molding Material:
