Fractional order PIλDµ controller for hybrid tank system control

This research presents a new methodology for the design and analysis of a PID controller specifically engineered for hybrid tank systems, which include both interacting and non-interacting components. The approach incorporates fractional calculus to enhance the controller’s performance. With the growing complexity of modern control systems, there is an increasing need for more adaptable control strategies. Fractional-Order PID (FOPID) controllers have emerged as a powerful solution, offering improved flexibility and performance over traditional integer-order PID controllers. By introducing two additional parameters, λ and µ, the FOPID controller enables more precise adjustments, allowing it to meet a wider array of performance goals. This is especially beneficial in systems with intricate dynamics, such as hybrid tank systems. Simulation results, achieved using the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method, clearly demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed FOPID controller, highlighting improvements in system efficiency, precision, and stability. The study provides a thorough evaluation of this control method, confirming its potential for practical applications in complex hybrid systems.
