EROSION RESISTANCE TESTING OF STELLITE CO-6 COATINGSPRODUCED ON THE X22CrMoV12-1 STEEL SUBSTRATE USINGTHE LMD METHOD

This paper presents the results of tests on the erosion resistance of the surface layer of the X22CrMoV12-1steel in a water, steam and abrasive environment and of the layer (LS) produced by multi-layer laser deposition(LMD) of the Stellite Co-6 powder on the substrate of the X22CrMoV12-1 steel. The produced hardfacedcoatings and the original base material were subjected to the following tests: optical microscope observations, hardness tests, measurements of the geometry of the characteristic zones (depth of fusion, width of the heataffected zone), and microstructure tests. The produced hardfaced coatings had a correct interface with thesubstrate and no welding defects. The erosion resistance tests on the above-mentioned layers showed anapproximately three times lower weight loss of samples with a technological layer made of the Stellite Co-6powder compared to the original base material, i.e. the X22CrMoV12-1 steel. This demonstrates the higherosion resistance of the Stellite Co-6 powder welds produced by the LMD laser method.
