Serpentinites as a potential source of geological hydrogen

Molecular H2 “white“ hydrogen is a naturally occurring geological hydrogen found in underground deposits. Discovered in recent years, it is considered the new hope for clean energy and its deposits in many regions open a new opportunity for the global energy supply system. The problem has been discussed in many publications by leading economies of the word. It is found in various rocks but the highest contents show the serpentinites which appear as collectors due to the specific crystal structure. In the metamorphic complexes of Bulgaria, large serpentinite massifs have been established which is a prerequisite for focusing attention as a priority in the search for “white” hydrogen.
