Partial Capacity based SOB Diagnosis Method for Quantifying Cell Imbalance in a Battery Pack

Energy storage systems that utilize waste batteries are crucial components for achieving sustainable energy management. To ensure the optimal operation and consistent performance of these systems, it is essential to accurately monitor and estimate the state-of-balance (SOB) of the batteries. The SOB reflects the degree of imbalance between cells in a battery pack, which is a critical metric that directly impacts the overall lifespan and reliability of the system. Conventional methods for estimating SOB typically rely on measuring the differences in voltage or state-of-charge between cells. However, these approaches have limitations in terms of accuracy and responsiveness. Thus, an accurate estimation of the SOB is essential for maintaining the continuous optimal performance and efficiency of the batteries. In this research, we propose an algorithm to estimate the SOB based on partial capacity.
