Design of a small precision seeder for vegetables

Seeding is a critical activity in agricultural production, and its quality will directly affect seedling emergence, full seedling and sound seedling of the crops. Accordingly, it will determine growth of the crops in the later stage and ultimately have a great impact on the yield. In this paper, a small precision seeder for vegetables has been designed to address existing problems, such as difficult precision seeding due to the large variety of vegetable seeds but small particle size and small one-thousand-seed weight, unguaranteed seeding quality under the low-efficient traditional manual seeding practice due to limited planting area as well as inapplicability of large seeders in hilly, mountainous, and greenhouse environments. It is able to control the speed of seeding in response to the movement speed of the machine to achieve uniform and precision seeding. Its adoption of the transposable seed metering device allows it to better adapt to the size of seeds and the spacing of the seeding rows.In this way, it can ensure the most reasonable distribution of seeds in the field, with an accurate seeding rate, uniform spacing, and consistent sowing depth. More than that, it can greatly save the consumption of seeds and thus lay a good foundation for stable and high yield of vegetables, showcasing a great potential of practical value.
