Modal analysis of the Transamerica Pyramid based on Ansys
This paper presents a multi-phase modeling and simulation approach to analyze the structural behavior of the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, considering different deformation conditions. The whole process is carried out using Ansys, focusing on boundary conditions, material properties, meshing, and deformation modes. Natural frequencies and maximum normalized deformations are obtained for various modes, demonstrating the vulnerability of the pyramid's structure to certain deformations. The results suggest a potential reinforcement strategy to enhance structural stability.
