A simplified prediction method for the ground vibration induced by a pulse sequence load

Accurate characterization of the ground vibration induced by multiple impact loads plays an important role in evaluating the adverse effect on the surrounding environment. In this paper, the dynamic response of the ground vibration under impact load was investigated using an analytical-experimental method. An analytical calculation method for the ground vibration under a pulse sequence load which considered the characteristics of the pulse sequence load and vibration superimposed effect was proposed. A series of single- and double- drop hammer impact tests were carried out to study the influences of time interval on the vibration superimposed effect. It was found that the linear superposition effect contributes to the ground vibration generated by multiple impacts until the time interval exceeds 0.08 s. The vertical peak particle velocities (PPVs) obtained by the experimental and analytical methods were compared and the relative errors were all less than 10%. The results show that the proposed method features convenient applicability for the actual ground vibration induced by a pulse sequence load.
