Lingually Positioned Supernumerary Teeth in The Mandibular Premolar Region - A Case Report

Background: Supernumerary teeth are commonly found in the maxilla which are termed as “mesiodens”. In the mandible, supernumerary of supplemental type can be found in the premolar region very commonly. These are routinely diagnosed as an incidental finding in the radiograph by an orthodontist.Case report: In our case report, we describe the surgical removal of a supernumerary premolar tooth with lingual approach to aid in continued orthodontic treatment. Conclusion: Supernumerary teeth should be removed as this may interfere with tooth movement. Both buccal and lingual approach for surgical removal can be used depending upon the location of impacted tooth.
