Azərbaycan Səfəvilər dövlətinin ilk illərində Şah İsmayıl - II Bayəzid münasibətləri (Osmanlı mənbələrində)
In the spring of 1500, while Bayezid II was on a trip, Ismail went to Erzincan to collect military forces. This situation created favorable conditions for the Safavids and they were able to gather thousands of supporters in Anatolia. For this reason, Sultan Bayezid II strengthened control in the border regions at the end of 1500, and sent orders to the army leaders to capture and kill all Sufis going to or coming from Ardabil. In this case, Anatolia was covered by a wave of revolts against the Ottomans. In spite of all these, the “qizilbashs”, who were on the verge of creating their state, could not be stopped, and in 1501, the Azerbaijan Safavid state was founded on the lands of the Aggoyunlu state. During these years, when the Safavid propaganda expanded, some measures were taken at the initiative of Sultan Bayezid II. An attempt was made to unite religious groups such as Safavid, Qalandari, Alawite and Hurufi, who were opposed to the official religious ideology of the Ottoman state, around Bektashiism. However, the slogan of “divinity” expressed in the form of “cult of 12 imams” and “Haq- Muhammad-Ali”, which is considered sacred in all of these groups, including the Bektashi, resulted in their leaning not to the Ottoman state, but to the Safavids, who adopted this slogan as their state ideology. Despite all these contradictions, Bayezid II accepted the embassy sent by the Safavid state in 1502 and had to recognize the independence of the Safavids. In the following period, Bayezid II, who sent his delegation to the Safavid state with two letters, this time accepted Shah Ismail as a head of state.
