PERSISTÊNCIA DA DENGUE NO BRASIL: A CULPA É DO MOSQUITO?
The transmission control of dengue is difficult because factors of emergence and re-emergence of the disease. Current government actions are focused on vector control and community participation, which are issufficient. The study aimed to make a critical review of the most recente published works, through a narrative review on the possible causes of the persistence os dengue in Brazil. In addition to environmental variables such as rainfall and temperature, structural violence caused by population growth, poverty and unplanned urbanization are also among the causes cited for the maintenance of the disease. Dengue was also related to social vulnerability, being more prevalent in the lowest socioeconomic class, with less education, and associated with groups at greater risk of contracting the disease, such as gender, ethnicity, pregnant women and the elderly. The findings of this review suggest that there is a “target population”, that is, that are more likely to contract the disease.
