Non-drug technologies in rehabilitation of women after rectocele repair

Objective. To estimate various non-drug methods in postoperative rehabilitation of patients with rectocele using assessment of pelvic floor muscles. Material and methods. The study included 100 women after surgical treatment of rectocele. Patients were divided into 2 groups with similar clinical and functional characteristics. In each group, patients were further divided into 2 subgroups depending on age: subgroup A — women of childbearing age, subgroup B — women of peri- and menopausal age. In the main group, patients underwent a course of general magnetic therapy from the first postoperative day. After a month, women underwent rehabilitation including pelvic floor muscle stimulation with biological feedback, special complex of therapeutic physical training and two intravaginal procedures of fractional microablative therapy with CO2 laser. In the control group, patients received symptomatic therapy consisting of painkillers and antispasmodics. Results. In vast majority of patients with rectocele in childbearing age, as well as in two-thirds of patients in peri- and menopausal age, the rehabilitation complex significantly improved pelvic floor muscle function as evidenced by Oxford scale and perineometry data. This may be primarily due to active effect of electrical stimulation on muscles. Together with magnetic therapy, stimulation significantly improved contractility of pelvic floor muscles after surgery for rectocele. Conclusion. The developed rehabilitation complex has obvious effect and can be recommended after surgical treatment of rectocele.
