The mental health of classical musicians during the covid-19 pandemic – a mini narrative review

Introduction: The beginning of 2020, when theCOVID-19 pandemic began, made the situation ofclassical musicians worldwide very unstable. First, limiting their activities resulted in losingemployment stability and financial liquidity. Thefear caused by this could lead to health problems inthis professional group - both in terms of physicaland mental health. As is widely known, thepandemic did not release musicians from theobligation to practice. However, it also did not allowthem to perform in front of an audience, which is the"crème de la crème" of the musician's profession. TPurpose: To examine how the pandemic hasaffected the mental health of classical musicians(soloists, chamber musicians, orchestral and choralmusicians). Materials and Methods: Based on a review ofcurrent literature on the EBM (Evidence-BasedMedicine) paradigm, the problem of thepsychophysical health of classical musicians ispresented. The PubMed search engine, whichsupports the MEDLINE database, and the GoogleScholar search engine were used during datacollection. The criteria used to search for articles areworks published since 2020 and available in Polishor English. Conclusions: The pandemic has had a negativeimpact on the mental health of classical musicians.
