Morphological, physical and chemical characterization of the maguey Pitzometl (Agave marmorata) from Zapotitlán Salinas, Puebla
The genus Agave (scientific name of Maguey) is endemic to America, being an important cactus that has about 200 species of which Mexico, a Megadiverse country, is home to 150 of these. In the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Biosphere Reserve, 15 species have been located, of which 8 are endemic (García-Mendoza, Franco-Martínez, 2022). The present work presents the morphological characterization by measuring the length and width of the stalk, leaf thickness, number of spines, height of the apical spine, height and diameter of the plant, leaf area, color and layers of developed stalks of the Maguey Pitzometl from the Zapotitlán Region, Salinas, Puebla, which is one of the most important reservoirs of Agave marmorata, contributing to determining its particular morphological, physical and chemical attributes.
