An Improved Setup for the Realisation of UTC(SCL) in the Standards and Calibration Laboratory

This paper describes an improved time scale system setup at the Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) for the local realization of UTC, UTC(SCL). The original setup was based on the caesium frequency standards and a microphase stepper. An active hydrogen maser has been recently integrated into the system to provide an additional short-term stable frequency reference, and a frequency steering algorithm has been developed to calculate the microphase stepper settings to improve the accuracy and stability for the UTC(SCL).

Abstract

This paper describes an improved time scale system setup at the Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) for the local realization of UTC, UTC(SCL). The original setup was based on the caesium frequency standards and a microphase stepper. An active hydrogen maser has been recently integrated into the system to provide an additional short-term stable frequency reference, and a frequency steering algorithm has been developed to calculate the microphase stepper settings to improve the accuracy and stability for the UTC(SCL).
