Evolution of Bulgarian Energy and Climate Policy in Recent Years
Decarburisation of the energy sector in the Republic of Bulgaria envisaged decommissioning of coal-fired power plants and replacing them with new Renewable Energy Souses (RES) with zero or minimal carbon emissions. In connection with the envisaged smooth transition to carbon-free energy by 2050, plans with specific time steps to achieve this goal have been formally published in recent years. Unfortunately, the published plans are inconsistent and contradictory, with each successive one is less concrete and vague. This paper is dedicated to an view of the current energy strategy of Bulgaria for fluent passage to low and no carbon energy till 2050.
