Analysis of Transient Processes During Short-Circuits in DC Traction Networks for Urban Transport

The study of transient processes during short-circuits is of utmost importance for the correct setting of relay protections and ensuring the reliable operation of the DC traction network. This paper provides a detailed analysis of the transient processes observed during short-circuits in DC traction power supply networks for the urban transportation in Sofia. The research covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the dynamic behavior of currents and voltages that arise during short-circuits in these networks. The paper also develops a model that serves as a foundation for the analysis of these phenomena. In conclusion, the paper offers specific recommendations for improving relay protection settings to enhance the selectivity and effectiveness of protection systems.
