A Comprehensive Study on Renewable Energy Revolution in India

India, a country home to 1.4 billion people and the world's fastest-growing major economy, lives in a state of uncertainty in terms of energy development. The purpose of this review paper is to appraise the change in energy status from the fossil-centric energy to Renewable Energy in case of India in light of mechanical development, increased urbanization, and favorable policies. India currently has an installed capacity of over 400,000 MW out of which around 179,000 MW is from renewable sources. They have planned to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030 and achieve net zero carbon emission target by 2070. Besides, the issues of intermittency and grid integration concerns, the Indian government has given immense importance to Renewable Energy, proving its pivotal role in spearheading the transition to a sustainable future - and provides the case studies that are valuable for enlightening those in bureaucracy, entrepreneurship, and academics.
