Techno-Economic and Ecological Assessment of Power Units with PK-38-4M Natural Gas-Fired Boilers
Considering the “green deal”, coal has been assigned an increasingly diminishing role in power generation within the European Union. Natural gas, due to its lower carbon footprint, provides a good opportunity to realize a smooth transition to carbon neutrality. Transforming coal-fired units to operate on a new more efficient combined cycle (CCGT), while retaining and maximizing the use of existing equipment, would significantly reduce the investment in such a transition. In this paper, a techno-economic and ecological assessment of power units with boilers PK-38-4M in combined cycles with different gas turbines is made.
