Design and Implementation of Ergonomic Mid-Air Acoustic Tongs
Mid-air acoustic tweezers allow for contactless manipulation of objects. These devices require adaptive phase amplitude control, which increases their complexity and scale. Additionally, the large size of the transducer array compared with the object hinders proper handling. Despite these challenges, the ability to manipulate objects without contamination or damage is beneficial in various fields including chemistry and biology. We designed and implemented a device for intuitive and completely contactless levitation and manipulation of objects. The proposed device improves the practicality of contactless manipulation using acoustic levitation.
