A Novel Pulse Excitation Method for Single-Element Dual-Frequency Transducers

In response to the low efficiency issue associated with the traditional pulse excitation method for single-element dual-frequency transducers, this paper introduces a novel square wave excitation waveform. By simultaneously exciting the two resonance points of the transducer, efficient generation of ultrasound in two frequency bands is achieved. A micro dual-frequency transducer was manufactured to test the effectiveness of this pulse waveform. Results indicate that compared to traditional sharp and square wave pulse excitations, the novel excitation pulse effectively enhances the echo amplitudes in both frequency bands of the transducer. The sensitivity of the transducer in the dual-frequency range is increased by more than 6 dB, laying a solid foundation for subsequent dual-frequency image fusion.
