Exploring the Prospect of Digital Tracking Technology in Enhancing the Circularity of the Swedish Precast Concrete Sector

This study investigates the drivers and barriers to adopting Digital Tracking Technologies (DTT) for enhancing circularity in the Swedish precast concrete sector. Utilising a mixed-method design, it combines quantitative text analytics of social media posts, generating word clouds and sentiment analysis, with thematic analysis of stakeholder interviews. These interviews are analysed through a PESTLE framework, mapped to SWOT, and further examined using the Multi-Level Perspective (MLP) framework to understand transitional dynamics across the: ‘niche,’ ‘regime,’ and ‘landscape’ levels. The analysis identified 22 drivers and 24 barriers to DTT adoption, emphasising the critical role of regulatory frameworks, technological innovations, and industry practices in promoting DTT for circular economy (CE) purposes. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders, guiding further exploration and decision-making in this field.
