Roles of Green Infrastructure in Educational Institutions: A Case Study of Thammasat University Rangsit Campus

This study investigates the roles of green infrastructure (GI) within Thammasat University Rangsit campus. The objectives include examining the types and roles of existing GI and their impacts on individuals and the university. The study found that the existing GI in the university can be classified into five types and distributed across three main functional zones: service, educational, and residential. The types and roles of GI include 1) green buffer, these spaces separate different functional zones and accommodate various activities; 2) green patch, designed for relaxation, these areas enhance the environment by supporting diverse plant and animal species; 3) green corridor, facilitating non-motorized transportation (walking and cycling), these corridors also enhance the university's aesthetic landscape; 4) green building, Thammasat's buildings prioritize good ventilation and incorporate solar roofs to reduce energy consumption; 5) green canal and river, these areas delineate university territories and functional zones while serving as water drainage channels.
